Reseller Tax Exemptions

Due to various economic sales tax nexus rules we are required to collect and remit sales tax is most US states.  If you are in the business of reselling the merchandise you purchase from us you may be exempt from sales tax. 

To claim and make purchases with sales taxes removed please complete the following:

  1. Create an Online Account
  2. Find and complete the required form for your state (See state requirements and forms below).
  3. Email Us at sales@containersource.com with your tax exemption paper work.  Pictures, scans or photocopies are all acceptable. This can also be faxed at (800) 499-6128 or mailed to:

  4. Tax exempt orders can now be completed using the email address you provided during the Online Account creation step. 

Sales Tax Exemptions By State

Alabama

Resale certificates in Alabama are available using the Alabama Certificate of Exemption (Form ST-EX-A1).

Expiration Date:Does not expire unless there is a change in operations.

 

Arizona

Resale certificate in Arizona are available using either the  Arizona Resale Certificate (Form 5000A) or the Multistate Tax Uniform Sales and Use Tax Certificate.

Expiration Date: Should be renewed every twelve months.

 

Arkansas

To get a Arkansas resale certificates are available by using the Arkansas Exemption Certificate (Form ST 391) or the Streamlined Exemption Certificate Form.

Expiration Date: Should be renewed every twelve months.

 

California

California Resale Certificate (CDTFA-230) is needed for resale in the state of California. You will need a valid  California seller’s permit number.

Colorado

A Colorado resale certificate can be complete using the Colorado Sales Tax Exemption Form (DR 0715)

Connecticut

Connecticut Sales & Use Tax Resale Certificate is needed for sales tax exemption is Connecticut.

Expiration Date:Three years from filing.

 

District of Columbia

A resale certificate in Washington DC is obtained by completing the District of Columbia Sales & Use Tax Certificate of Resale (OTR-368).

Expiration Date:One year from filing.

 

Florida

Florida only requires a copy of your sellers permit to make tax exempt purchases.

Expiration Date:Refer to the expiration date on your sellers permit.

 

Georgia

Georgia requires you to submit a Georgia Certificate of Exemption (ST-5).

Expiration Date:Does not expire.

 

Hawaii

For resale certificate in Hawaii, you will need to fill the Resale Certificate Form G-17

Expiration Date:Does not expire.

 

Idaho

A resale certificate in Idaho is obtained by filling out the Idaho Sales Tax Resale Certificate (Form ST-101).

Expiration Date:Does not expire.

 

Illinois

Illinois requires a completed Illinois Certificate of Resale (CRT-61).

Expiration Date:Three years from filing.

 

Indiana

A completed form Indiana General Sales Tax Exemption Certificate (ST-105) is required for resale.

Expiration Date:Does not expire. 

 

Iowa

A completed form Iowa Sales Tax Exemption Certificate is required for resale.

Expiration Date:Three years from filing.

 

Kansas

A completed form  Kansas Resale Exemption Certificate ST-28A or Kansas Streamlined Sales Tax PR-78SSTA is required for resale.

Expiration Date:Does not expire.

 

Kentucky

A completed form  Kentucky Resale Certificate 51A105 is required for resale.

Expiration Date:Does not expire.

 

Louisiana

Louisiana requires just a copy of your sellers permit for resale purchases.

Expiration Date:Three years from filing.

 

Maine

Maine requires just a copy of your sellers permit for resale purchases.

Expiration Date: Valid up to 5 years.

 

Maryland

A completed form Maryland Blanket Resale Certificate is required for resale.

A completed form Form ST-4 Sales Tax Resale Certificate is required for resale.

Michigan

A completed form Michigan Sales Tax Certificate of Exemption (Form 3372)  is required for resale.

A completed form  Missouri Sales Tax Exemption Certificate is required for resale.

A completed form  Nebraska Resale Certificate (Form 13) is required for resale.
